Ladies' Auxiliary News
Reported by Ann Nastu , President
“Christ is Risen!” – Indeed this Pascha Season has been a very special and busy time for our Ladies’ Auxiliary Committee.
We thank the following ladies who donated the holy bread in the month of April: Len Balamaci, Elena Olszyk, Tula Michael, Gloria Caranica, and Rodica Ianuş. We would also like to thank Rodica Ianus and Zoe Zgura for making the church bread used in the Pasti.
On Saturday, March 13, our church held a very well-attended and insightful Lenten Retreat: A Journey Through Holy Week. Father Cornel and Father George were eloquent in their explanation of the meaning and significance of each day of the Holy Week. Many thanks to all attendees and to those who prepared our luncheon, especially to Father Cornel for his excellent leek and potato soup.
Palms for Palm Sunday and flowers for the epitaful were ordered by Bill Balamaci, and the lilies for Pascha by Florence Godin. We thank them for their effort. The flowers on the altar table were donated by Mrs. Bea Kolton. Also we thank those who donated money for flowers used to decorate the altar during the Pascha season. Also many thanks to Elena Vartic for donating flowers for the altar table during Great Lent.
Many thanks to Elefteria Fatsi and her committee for decorating the Epitaph for Good Friday. It looked lovely. We are grateful for all the ladies who brought red eggs that were distributed to the faithful on Pascha. Easter Week was so beautiful due to the many people who volunteered their time, talent, and treasure. We thank the ladies who baked the "five loaves" of bread for each of the "Pre-Sanctified Liturgies" held on Wednesdays during Lent: Chirata Jombur, Sultana Culcearu , Letitia Neagu, the Jurabie sisters, Cristina Kove, her mother Elena Vartic, Aspasia Margarit, Rodica Ianus, and Zoe Zgura.
We encourage all ladies to join our organization for the betterment of our Church. May God bless all our hardworking women who have participated in various capacities with a joyful heart.
If you would like to make the holy bread for a specified week or a month, please call Florence Marsala at (203) 336-0296.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary always welcomes new members. Please join our hardworking organization. The annual membership fee is only $25.00. At our new church in Easton, we definitely need lots of extra help and fresh new ideas.
Psa. Mariana's pita sales have been fantastic. Her crew works tirelessly to prepare them. Many, many thanks to all of the workers.
The Festival is fast approaching.....PLEASE offer your help in any way for the success of this most important parish function.
On June 11, 12, and 13 we will hold our Annual Festival. We need the help and support of many. The chairpersons, Ovidiu Ocrain and Patti Johnson, will call on us all to help.
We wish. We can use a good used or new food processor in our kitchen. If any one have an extra one home, or you would like to donated a new one, please bring it at the church. We did have a good food processor but just stopped working. With the Festival coming we can for sure need and will use one immediately. Thanks!
If you would like to buy pita – spinach, leeks or pumpkin – please call:

Youth News
On March 27 (Lazarus Saturday), members of the Mac-AROY met following the Divine Liturgy to make palm crosses and fill the eggs for the Egg Hunt. On April 4 (Easter Sunday), Mac-AROY coordinated the Egg Hunt after the Agape Service, which was again a big success. Thanks to Marianne Ocrain for organizing this and to everyone who donated candy and plastic eggs!
We encourage all our youth from 12 years old and up to join our organization.
Our youth will be of great support to our Festival. They have already started the dance practice. For more information, or if you would like to join in please contact Marianne Ocrain.
Christ is Risen! This Holy Pascha Season was in a way very special and different from all of the Paschal Seasons we have had in the past, since we celebrated also a year since the move into our new, beautiful Church.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who worked hard and was dedicated to making our Holy Week and Holy Pascha celebrations very special this year.
We especially thank Psa. Marian Coca for beautifully decorating the Paschal Candle, and the lovely candles for sale. She also baked the Pascha.
We are especially indebted to our clergy Fr. Cornel and Fr. George; to our Cantors, Constantin Bargiuma, George C. Fatsy, George Cipu, Bill Balamaci, and Dinca Ianus; the choir, under the direction of Gina Cook and Diane Vieira; the epitrops; and all the members of the Parish Council who worked so hard! We must not forget the youth who show their dedication to the church: the altar boys ( especially, but not only: Justine Pustey, Dan Antoniu, William and Anthony Docu, Daniel Munteanu, Alex Hagischi, Alex Breban, Dan Angelescu) for their service and MAC-AROY, for making cross palms and preparing for the Egg Hunt.
We thank Mr. and Mrs. Cristi Petre for donating the Paşti this year. It was his own “label,” donated in thanksgiving to God, good health, and continued blessings.
Last, but certainly not least, we appreciate all the ladies who, as usual, are mainly working “behind the scenes,” making the eggs, organizing the Easter Social, with countless other jobs, under the able leadership of Pres. Ann Nastu. Most of all, we thank all of you who faithfully participated in the Lord's journey by devotedly attending all of the Holy Week and Paschal services.
Truly He is Risen!

488 Sport Hill Rd. Mortgage Reduction
We would like to thank the following people who have donated each month since January of 2009 to reduce our mortgage liability on the house next door to the Church. As a group they have contributed $12,000 since the program
started: William & Evelyn Balamaci, George & Audrey Fatsy, Sam & Gina Giavara, Bob & Diane Nicola, Ted & Kallie Schuster.
Also thanks to Fr. Cornel & Psa. Louisa who, along with Betsy Cipu, contribute as they can to this Mortgage Reduction program. They have added almost $1,000 to reduce the mortgage.
If anyone wants to join us simply put 488 SHR in the memo section of a check or if you want to officially join the “monthly group” see Ted Schuster. Since the money borrowed was used for construction, the amount donated counts toward the plaque total.

Special Thanks & Remembrance
St. Dimitrie is grateful for the Easter flower donation from the A. Peter Fatse and Sylvia Babiana Fatse Memorial Fund. Each year this gracious remembrance of two of our members who brightened our Church with their personalities is well-appreciated and is expressed in the form of our beautiful Easter flowers.

Please Help Us to Help the Church
Please join us for one of the most important social and fundraising event of our parish, our Annual Festival! We need everyone’s help!
This year’s Festival must be enjoyable for everyone. We hope that the people who participate this year will enjoy it so much that they won’t be able to wait for our next Festival. We should all finish our work at the Festival feeling that we can’t wait to produce another one!
This Festival must be successful financially. We hope that the income from this Festival will help us to pay for some of the building costs of our new church. However, we need the funds raised at the Festival for the General Fund, the operating fund of our church. Without the three main events of our parish life – Easter, Christmas and the Festival – we cannot meet our obligation for the daily operations of our church.
This Festival must be successful as fellowship. Our past Festivals were always community builders. Members and friends of our parish came together, socialized, and got to know one another better. The Festival was always a great occasion for the community to bond. For those working at the Festival, it was an occasion for bonding in the same way. The church community was strengthened by the fact that people worked together, collaborated with one another, and felt the common cause for helping to maintain and increase the progress of our church community.
The Festival must be successful as our utmost ethnic activity. We always were proud to show off our ethnic foods and hospitality. There is no other Festival in the area as ours, where 100 percent of our food is homemade, delicious, and conveniently priced!
Thank God for Good Chairpersons!
We are very grateful to our Festival Chairpersons: Ovidiu Ocrain and Patty Johnson. If you would like to help, please contact one of them. They will appreciate it. It takes a lot a people and organization to run a successful Festival.
Do you know for each booth at the Festival we need approximate eight people to run a section of its time? We have a list in the vestibule of our church where you can sign up for time when and the place where you are willing to help. Put your phone number and you will be contacted.
Thank God for Good Captains!
Each booth of the Festival is led by a captain. They make sure that the booth is well organized, stocked with provisions, and has the help it needs.
Raffles
For many years Mrs. Florence and Mr. Peter Costulas have chaired the main Festival Raffle. You have already received raffle tickets in the mail. We ask that you sell them to your friends and coworkers, or even purchase some yourself. Every year this raffle brings a wonderful income to the church.
Festival Sponsors
Our community is very generous, since we have always had a very successful Festival sponsorship. The Festival Sponsors bring a half or even more of the Festival income.
All these donations are pure income. Our sponsor income for this festival is even more needful in our financial situation than ever in the past. Please become a sponsor, especially if you have never been one in the past. If you have been a sponsor before, please help us again. Within this bulletin we include a letter requesting your donation. We need everyone’s help!
Church Tours
Since we have a beautiful new church, we are sure that many people coming to our Festival would like to see it and learn more about our faith and traditions. For that reason, we will have a regular time for church tours. We need some help with this activity. If you would like to be one of the guides, please contact one of the chairpersons.
Take-a-Chance
We have always had many interesting things to raffle. Most of the prizes are donated by our parishioners. If you would like to donate something to this booth, please call the captain of the booth, Mrs. Veronica Atanase.
Thank God for Good Dance Instructors!
This year we will have two groups of ethnic dancers to perform during the Festival. We are very grateful to Mariana Ocrain, who instructs the Youth Group, and to Marianne Ianusu, the instructor for the Young Adult Group. Both groups have very good dancers and it is a joy to watch them. I am sure they are going to be one of the prime attractions at our Festival.
Cake Walk
The Cake Walk is also a very exiting part of the Festival. For years, our choir director Gina Cook has done a wonderful job taking care of it. We get home-made and restaurant-made cakes, which are raffled during the Festival. If you can donate one or more cakes, we appreciate it. We are grateful to Tula Michael, who for many years has solicited area restaurants to donate cakes to support our Festival. Get a ticket (a playing card on a hat), walk around enjoying the Festival, and listen, because your ticket might be called! The cakes come in various flavors and are absolutely delicious.
Rides
For the first time in the history of our festivals we are going to have rides for children (and not for children only). We are bringing these rides with the hope that will help us financially and to entertain our children.
