De ce să Postim?  In 7 Martie a început postul Sf.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

I want to thank the General Assembly and Parish Council for electing me to the office of President.  One of my objectives as your President is to better communicate the Parish Council’s activities on a timely basis. Therefore, I plan to use this monthly column to update you on the Parish Council’s progress. I also propose to hold three General Assembly meetings during the year giving all the parishioners an opportunity to voice their ideas and comments. On a weekly basis, I am available after each Sunday Service so please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you may have regarding the administration of the Church. At the February Parish Council meeting, I proposed and the Parish Council supported my recommendation to hold three new events this year:1.

Youth Group: My goal is to revive MAC-AROY.  I will be naming co-chair persons to plan events that will bring the youth of our Parish together. We will develop a program that will propel the organization to an active and vibrant group. They are the future of our Church.

2. Greatest Generation: No other group in the history of our Country and even our Church sacrificed so much having lived through the Great Depression and World War II. They also endured the hardship of witnessing our Church on Lee Avenue in Bridgeport burn to the ground. Again they sacrificed and met the challenge, building the beautiful St. Dimitrie Church on Clinton Avenue in Bridgeport. Even in their senior years they were active participants in building our new Church in Easton. We will honor them with a dinner in May.

3. New Immigrants: Our country and church was built with the ingenuity and hard work of immigrants. In the last thirty plus years St. Dimitrie was fortunate to have many new immigrants join our church and make significant contributions with their hard work and financial support. We will honor them with a dinner and celebrate their coming to the U.S.A. and St. Dimitrie. We have established several new committees:

1. Special Events: Bill Balamaci was named Chairman. This fund raising committee will be planning monthly dinners, wine tasting events, trips etc.

2. Consecration: George Fatsy, our past president, was named Chairman. The consecration of our church is a major event with several hundred people expected to attend. We have already started planning for this event that will take place on October 28 and 29.

3. Membership: This is one of our most important committees. We need to expand our membership.

4. MAC-AROY: One of our top priorities for the year is to help organize the young people of our Church. I want to thank our Parish Priests for their support, the newly elected officers and members of our Parish Council for their hard work, as well as the Parishioners of St. Dimitrie.Yours in Orthodoxy,
Sam Giavara
President
                                      Sunday School News

The students and teachers of our Sunday School would like to thank the following people for donating their time, talent, and treasure for our Christmas pageant. A special thank you to Elsie Fatse for donating all of the beautiful fabric for the costumes and for helping to design them, to Alan Dean who donated and built the manger for our living crèche, and to John Moreale for baking and designing 20 gingerbread churches for the students to decorate. How blessed we are to have such talented and giving people who share so freely with others. May God bless them all.

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP

SUPPORT OF ST. DIMITRIE CHURCH

We are all responsible to provide stewardship of our beloved church in the form of time, talent, and finances. It is a system whereby the support of the church is expressed as a matter of personal commitment, conscience, and the ability of each individual Christian. Our contributions reflect our love of God and the church and will express our commitment to ensure the present and future of our church. We are all called on to support the financial needs of the church, especially now as we build our new house of worship to the Lord in Easton.
